Definition: A person promote the safe effective and economic used of medicines in a clinical pharmacy setup.

 A formal definition of clinical is yet missing. But To be expert in all clinical pharmacy exeprties lead a person to be a clinical Pharmacist. So for this we must know that what is clinical pharmacy then:

Definition; Clinical pharmacy comprises a set of functions that promote the safe effective and economic use of medicines. It apply specific knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, Biopharmaceutics and pharmaceutics and therapeutics to the patient care.

Role of Clinical Pharmacist
1)      Consultation The pharmacist is consulted by the health care professionals for the effective therapy plan for individual patient. They provide pharmaceutical care to the patient both at community level and at hospital setups.
2)      Selection of Drugs Pharmacist select the most effective drugs which are suitable in all manners for individual patient. They select safe, effective and economic use of medicines.
3)      Drug Information pharmacist is the valuable source of information related to the medicines to the doctors, nurses and also to the patients.
4)      Formulation and Preparation Pharmacist holds the intellectual design a formulation for individual patient, on the priority bases.
5)      Drug use studies and Research Pharmacist is actively involved in the drugs use studies just like post prescription review of drugs, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidimology and the conduction of studies on drug effectiveness, and marketing evaluation of drug for research purpose.
6)      Pharmacoeconomy Pharmacist is the parson that promote the economic use of medicines, i.e through the selection of Generic equivalents , pharmaceutical equivalents and pharmaceutical alternatives. These are the three basic tool which are used to promote the effective use of medicines.
7)      Dispensation and Administration Dispensing and administration of medical products and devices.
8)      Teaching and Training Pharmacist provide teaching to pre and post graduate training to the pharmacist and other health care professionals.
